Symbiosis between humans and the globe through the power of microbes
A new way forward in the midst of a global standstill
A little more than 100 years have passed since the dawn of the 20th century. This comparatively short timespan has seen humanity fully embrace fossil fuels, employing them to create a nearly countless array of convenient, feature-rich items. While many of these products have proved indispensable for improving our lives, they have also led to a global reliance on fossil fuels and have driven asymmetric globalization. Furthermore, mass production, mass consumption, and mass disposal have quickly become the norm in developed countries, with grave consequences for the health of our planet.
The cost of our acclimation to this current state of so-called abundance is global climate change, a major source of critical environmental issues. It goes without saying that greenhouse gas emissions are devastating ecosystems and their diversity, while also leading to an increased risk of food shortages due to extreme weather events, declining freshwater resources, and progressive desertification. Should humanity continue on our present path, it is safe to say that the current abundance that some of us enjoy cannot last much longer.
Symbiobe was founded with the aim of turning the essentially infinite supply of air into a solution capable of helping humanity break out of its current resource deadlock. Having developed the core technology that unlocks the potential of microorganisms to produce products such as proteins and nitrogen compounds by fixing carbon dioxide and nitrogen, we are now shifting phases as we prepare for real-world implementation.
Our company name, derived from the word “symbiosis”, serves to express our wish to achieve a better, more harmonious environment for the planet and all of its people through the power of microorganisms.
